Gilbert & Goode hosted an event at St Austell Brewery, where staff, suppliers, partners, board members and contractors commemorated the milestone.
The company was founded in 1972 and was acquired by Ocean Housing Group in 2005. Last year, it repositioned as a developer of high-quality homes and went through a complete rebrand, with a new modern identity to reflect its vision for the future.
Gordon Innes, managing director of the company, welcomed attendees to the event and thanked everyone for their support and contributions to the business.
He said: “I am pleased to report that Gilbert & Goode has continued to thrive and grow since 2005 and we have a plan in place which will see us double in size in the next 18 months.
“We continue to create local jobs, support local supply chains, and advocate for the communities we serve. I would like to thank everyone that has played a part in the evolution of our business. We are extremely proud of the brand and look forward to continuing to expand into new geographical areas.”
Gordon also thanked founders David and Sandra Gilbert who attended the event: “My biggest thank you is to David and Sandra for their innovation and vision 50 years ago, without which we would not be standing here today.”
He also highlighted the flagship development, Copper Hills, in Hayle: “The development has 125 homes of mixed tenure, across the first two phases. It has been an enormous success for the business and is our benchmark for future projects, in terms of customer care, build rates and sales value.”
Gilbert & Goode was first located in The Old Carpenters Workshop in Charlestown Harbour, a building that was previously a renovation project for the company. Gilbert & Goode made the move to Saint Austell in 2005 when it was acquired by the Ocean Housing Group.
Past works for the then building contractor included church repairs, school extensions, private renovation works and small scale new-development. Fast forwarding over 25 years, Gilbert & Goode now creates hundreds of new-build homes throughout Cornwall. The company has recently announced its second site acquisition in Devon, demonstrating its ambition for growth throughout the South West.
New sites have just been acquired in St Erth, Merton, Folly Gate and many more. For more information about G&Gs latest homes visit the ‘find your new home’ section of the website.
